Exquisite designs can be made by using glass. It can be molded into any form that is desired and can be cut and tinted to make a beautiful piece of art. Using glass adds to the sophistication of the interiors and also provided proper ventilation to the room. Elaborate or subtle ornamentation using other materials like some alloys of metals or wood can increase the finesse of the design. Only dusting is enough to clean the glass; there is no need for expensive cleaning fluids or acids. Glass also boasts of longer life than any other decorative material. Glass can be employed in windows, doorways and chandeliers. A chandelier is a glass accessory that is suspended from the ceiling. It is made of glass cut into various shapes and is colored prettily. It has provisions for fitting light bulbs so it can make the entire room glow with wondrous beauty. While glass is being bought, care should be taken while its selection as it is expensive as well as fragile.

Many believe that the furniture at a home or office resembles the characteristics of the people living or working there. Some accessories and colors maintain tranquility while others amplify the energy levels. An eclectic person has the furniture placed randomly, in a haphazard fashion which shows that the person has an adventurous spirit. However one thing in common will be kept, like the sizes, theme or the colors. A well-organized person, on the other hand keeps matching pieces of furniture and accessories everywhere. They see patterns and arrange the furniture and guests feel comfortable in the places where the organized persons design. A minimalist keeps the design simple, accessories minimum and colors subtle. A person may not belong entirely to a particular group but will have a few other qualities also. Experimenting is the best solution to chic decoration.

In the present age, more and more people are beginning to care for the environment and are striving to reduce the pollution and garbage. Recycling is becoming mandatory for almost all goods made. Some of the recyclable materials are Paper stock, Inks, Mats, and Plants etc.

The first thing that comes to our mind when we visualize an office is paper. Files, folders, documents, all made of paper. Instead of throwing away all that paper which is used, each office firm can save a lot of trees from getting logged. From the past 25 years, there are paper and cardboard recycling campaigns that have succeeded in convincing almost all firms to follow this practice. Organic paper is cheaper and improves the character of the materials.

Production of traditional ink uses heavy materials and releases Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) into the atmosphere. Brand new printers use soy-based ink that is durable, dries quickly and have rich colors. This eco-friendly ink is renewable and is made from an organic compound called ethyl lactate, which is the most environment- friendly solvent available. Using soy ink also makes it easier to recycle. Even the plastics and electronic devices available in the offices can be recycled effectively. Eco-friendly devices give a natural feel to the office and even improve the customer numbers and appease the staffs’ stress.

Office chair mats that are used under the desk chair are made of plastic and attract lint. They can be replaced with bamboo mats that look elegant, are eco-friendly and cheaper too! Some bamboo mats are coated with special materials to make it durable, resist scuffs and also prevent fading due to the sunlight. Some are stain resistant too.

Tiles made of cork can be used in the office to improve the work aesthetics. These are renewable and can be used to improve privacy due to their acoustic properties. They also help in bringing down the noise level from outside, so peace can be maintained in the office. They can also be utilized as bulletin boards. Since these are soft and flexible, they can reduce strain in the muscles of the feet and keep the employees relaxed. They are extremely durable and easy to clean too.

Creativity has transcended all boundaries. Not limiting to designing clothes, shoes and buildings, some firms have started designing elegant office furniture also. Hence, even offices are evolving from the boring, old and commonplace desk and chairs to fashionable designs with great color. It is believed that when the office environment is pleasing, people would work better. And this is achieved by attractive interior designs and sophisticated pieces of furniture. Workers’ comfort and productivity depend on to some extent on the right kind of office ambience. Ergonomics do play an important role in selecting office desks and chairs as not only the looks but also the comfort of the staff needs to catered to. Productivity of the employees also depends on the working environment in general and the office furniture in particular. Nobody would be happy sitting in an uncomfortable chair doing strenuous work for 8 hours everyday. So, they might tend to shirk their duties and leave the offices for small durations to relieve them of the discomfort. The discomposed furniture pieces bring a lot of stress and weariness to the employees. Moreover, good furniture increases the employee morale and escalates productivity. Also, poorly designed structures wear out often and would require replacement frequently. Hence the reason for investing in nicely designed office furniture saves a lot of money and helps in ways more than one.

Serenity and tranquility are important in a successful work environment, where the staff have to worry only about their duty and nothing else. Taking their mind off other distractions, comfortable chairs help them work luxuriously and thereby increase their energy levels. Refurbishing can be done frequently so that the furniture pieces can be made environment friendly compared to other plastic or leather pieces. Apart from the desks and chairs, most of the elements found inside the office play a mighty role too. Modern wall hangings and paintings have an advantage over motivational posters that could sometimes be boring. Monotony can be avoided by removing cluttered files and adding paintings and art work in the offices. Abstract art appeal to everyone’s eyes and soothe the mind to improve the stressful mood of the workers. A pleasing work ambience always has a positive effect on the efficiency of the employees.
